A Folder Does Not Know Your Method

By Sergei Ponomarev · July 20, 2026

A franchise consultant kept all his client work in one Google Drive folder.

It worked for a month. By month three, he could not answer a simple question: what have I actually handed over to this client, and what am I still holding?

A folder does not know your method. It stores files in the order they arrived. Your expertise is not shaped like that.

He asked me to help. I said yes: the method is yours, the architecture is mine.

Now his methodology lives as a digital workshop. Five stages, each split into concrete pieces of work. On every piece: documents where they belong, AI to gather and analyse the information, a focused conversation about that one item, and a clear status of what is done.

The key part is the client view. The expert controls what has been handed over and what has not, and sees the project through his client's eyes before the client does. The client gets his own cabinet: he uploads what was asked, asks questions, brings his staff in.

Same expert, same method. The difference is that it became manageable and predictable for both sides.

One honest note: this is not fast.

Every expert carries his own logic, his own sequence, his own small rules that took years to earn — and that is exactly the part you cannot template. Most of the work is not code. It is listening.

But this is what working with a client can look like in 2026.

If you run any expert practice and you recognise the folder problem, I am happy to compare notes.
