Seven Brave Banks: Generative AI Assistants, One Customer Story
For bank product, CX and conversational-AI teamsWe looked for public generative AI assistants that bank customers could talk to without signing in. We found seven. One fictional 18-year-old customer, ten questions, every answer checked against sources saved in advance.
This is an independent research project run by an individual, Sergei Ponomarev, under the AI Business name. It was not commissioned or funded by any bank or technology vendor. The study describes the observed behaviour of specific public versions of seven bank AI assistants in saved sessions on 5 October 2026. It does not assess the banks as a whole, their employees, internal architecture, information security or regulatory compliance; no accounts were opened, no applications submitted and no products bought. Only assistants whose use of generative AI was confirmed through a primary source published by the bank or its named technology partner were included, and each passed a trial dialogue first. The reference answers were taken from preserved official bank documents and deposit-protection sources and frozen before the conversations; all rates and conditions in the report refer to those saved sources, principally of 3 and 5 October 2026. The report gives the ten questions, two results tables (eight factual questions, two behavioural ones), what went well, where the answers could be strengthened, the method and its limits, and for each bank every question, the verbatim start of the reply, the verdict and concrete suggestions. If a bank finds a factual inaccuracy, please send the supporting evidence to info@aibusiness.vc: confirmed corrections are published in a dated change log, an official comment can be added, and the original version stays preserved. Version 1.0, 6 October 2026; the PDF's SHA-256 is published next to it.
