Which Size Should I Order? Six Apparel, Footwear and Accessories Brands, One Shopper, Twelve Questions
For ecommerce, CX and conversational-AI teams in apparel and retailConsumer research into AI assistants by the test purchase method. A fictional first-time shopper gives her measurements and asks which size to order, then asks about shipping, returns, exchanges and payment. Every answer checked against the brand's own size chart and policy pages, saved and frozen before the first question.
This is an independent research project run by an individual, Sergei Ponomarev, under the AI Business name. Its purpose is to help companies improve the quality of service for their customers by testing and improving their AI assistants; it is written not to criticise but to help. It was not commissioned or funded by any brand, store or technology vendor. The study describes the observed behaviour of specific public versions of six AI assistants in saved conversations on 9 October 2026. It is not a ranking, not a comparison of products and not a recommendation to buy; it does not assess the brands, their products, staff, internal architecture or regulatory compliance. No orders were placed, no accounts created and no personal data entered. The whole study took place online: an automated browser opened each brand's website and typed the questions into the chat as a visitor would. Sixteen candidate websites were screened and six took part. The reference answers were taken only from the same brands' pages, including the size charts, and frozen before the first question; two conversations were repeated after proven technical defects of the script, with the corrected code frozen each time, and all defective conversations are kept as evidence. The report gives the twelve questions, two results tables, a chapter of best practices, points worth attention, the method and its limits, and for each assistant every question, the answer, the website page, the verdict and suggestions. If a brand finds a factual inaccuracy, please send the supporting evidence to info@aibusiness.vc: confirmed corrections are published in a dated change log, an official comment can be added, and the original version stays preserved. Version 1.0, 9 October 2026; the PDF's SHA-256 is published next to it.
